Community First Saturdays November and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s
by: Guy Barnhart
Those of you who were lucky enough to be part of the inaugural Community First Saturdays saw what an amazing event it is destined to become. Since we are located on the Riverwalk downtown, we have the privilege to join forces with various other events happening at the same time.
During the October Community First Saturdays we participated with Filipino Pride at the Landing, the Marine Corps Half Marathon and JaxParks Art in the Park event. The November event is guaranteed to be just as fun and action packed. We will be working with the Walk to End Alzheimer’s which is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The Walk is super easy to get involved with and if you surf on over to the official webpage you’ll get all the information you’ll need to get started. You can get registered immediately and start fundraising for the event.
The Walk will begin behind the Times-Union Center at 10:30 and follow a predetermined path mostly along the Riverwalk. You can walk at your own pace and really enjoy the sights and sounds of our city since this is not a timed race.
It’s so important for the quality of life in Jacksonville to get involved in events not only like Community First Saturdays but with all of the other activities constantly going on in our city. We can’t wait to see everyone at our next event!
