A Relaxing Kick Off – Tai Chi – Along our Riverfront

Like our river, Tai Chi is smooth & tranquil on the surface, but there is immense power within.

Tai chi is often described as “meditation in motion,” but it might well be called “medication in motion.” There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice, which originated in China as a martial art, has value in treating or preventing many health problems.  -Harvard Medical Health Publication 05/09

Addressing health & wellness needs in our community, instruction will follow the Tai Chi for Health – Diabetes program of Dr. Paul Lam (a family physician, tai chi expert and world leader in Tai Chi for Health).  This program has been designed by both medical & tai chi experts, and can be beneficial to all participants (approx. 12 yrs. – 112 yrs.) seeking anything from relaxation to pain relief.  No experience is necessary.

Tai Chi offers slow, gentle, fluid movements and a multitude of health benefits.  Many of us are constantly on the go and experience stress and tension.  This is a chance to slow things down with coordinated movement and find balance in life.

Come by yourself or bring family & friends.  Relax…and have fun “playing” Tai Chi with us on the Riverfront.  Bring a smile, and I’m certain you will receive one in return.

Feel your ENERGY with this 9 a.m. Tai Chi session on the first Saturday of each month (Oct. – June).
